How this calculator works
Each mix style is a target profile per litre. Sports drink aims near commercial sports drinks and the ACSM's guidance for exercise over an hour: roughly 500 mg sodium per litre with 6% carbohydrate. Zero sugar reproduces the LMNT-style ratio (1,000 mg sodium, 200 mg potassium, optional 60 mg magnesium) for heavy sweat or fasted training. Rehydration sits in WHO oral-rehydration territory, saltier and lightly sweet, because glucose actively helps the gut absorb sodium and water.
The engine then works backwards to kitchen measures. Lite Salt (half sodium chloride, half potassium chloride) is sized to hit the potassium target; table salt tops up the remaining sodium; sugar converts at 12.5 g per tablespoon. Everything rounds to eighth-teaspoons and half-tablespoons because nobody measures 0.183 teaspoons, and the per-litre numbers shown are computed from the rounded amounts.
